Laptop Setup Guide

Overview:

  • Management will install ninja. 
  • The machine will be renamed and joined to the Azure domain
  • The User Profile will be setup and software installed. 
  • Users account will be armed for 2 factor. 
  • Laptop will be given to user and they will call in if they need help setting up 2 factor authentication. 

 

Create Accounts:

 

Setting up Machine:

  • Rename Laptop
  • Join To Azure Domain
  • Log Into Laptop
  • Windows Hello will ask you to create a pin, the sign in box will appear just close it out and click SKIP FOR NOW.
  • Open Browser and navigate to microsoft365.com
    • Log in as user
    • Download Office 365 Suite
    • Install
  • Install Microsoft Teams for "Work or School"
    • *Teams that installs with office is not sufficient, this version must be downloaded and installed
  • Install Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Install Ring Central
  • Install Encompass
  • Open Microsoft Outlook and signin and get the profile setup. Once created the user wont have to do it again. 
  • Open Teams, Sign in and get it synced with company Chanels
  • Open Encompass and type the Proper company ID.

 

At this Point unless there is another software that was requested be installed the setup is complete. The profile has been built and the laptop can be shutdown. 

You can now move onto removing your temporary 2 factor you enrolled and rearming it to ask the real user the next time the laptop is signed into. 

 

Administrative Clean up:

  • Reset Password for user, Check the box "Require User to Change Password Upon next Login"
    • Record New Password, this will be added to the users Sign on Package along with the Pin recorded from earlier steps
  • Enforce Multi Factor Authentication

 

Report:

  • Send Username which will be the Email Address
  • Temporary password Created in the Cleanup Phase
  • Pin that was created in the laptop setup phase.
  • and the Ring central number created. 

 

After these 3 steps are done the device is RE-Armed for security and ready to be given to the user with their Sign in Package.
